HELLO!
I’m Kara, a Baltimore-based video producer with over 10 years of experience shooting, editing, and producing. But at the end of the day I’m really just a storyteller (yes, I know that sounds cliche, but stick with me).
Over the years, I've learned how to talk to people, making them feel comfortable, pulling out what actually makes their story theirs. I love finding that balance between being concise and still letting someone’s personality shine through. I wasn’t exactly a science or math kid growing up, but in 2017 I found myself right in the middle of some of the most advanced medicine in the world at Johns Hopkins Hospital. I learned fast. A big part of my role there was producing short patient documentaries, with the goal of making complex, emotional experiences feel real and understandable.
After five years at JHH, I made the jump to The Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab. Same idea, different flavor of science. I absolutely love working with some of the smartest, most creative people I’ve ever met and translating their very technical jargon into something that actually makes sense to real humans. I like to say I make the nerds look cool, and I mean that in the best way possible. They do the hard part, I just help tell the story.
When I’m not working, I’m usually behind a camera anyway, shooting photos of friends, music, and travel. Otherwise, you can find me hiking with my husband and our dog Louie, playing bocce ball with friends, or catching a concert at The Recher.
